Captain Ravee entered Officer’s Training Academy on 8th May 1989 and passed out on 9th Mar 1990. Entering OTA campus was a great feeling. First month was very tough as seniors gave us lot of “Ragda” but after that the academy appeared to be a great life.
He loved Drill, PT, Firing, Running and Horse Riding. Drill Instructors used to call him Drill Ka Arjun.
Catering officer Maj I.J. Kumar from ASC fed the whole academy very well. Food was excellent. Academy routine was quite busy but still it was fun.
All the exercises outside the academy were very interesting and great to learn. A total of 139 officers passed out from SS-49th course. Captain Ravee made a website ss49.in and kept the course together by doing get-togethers on course anniversaries on 9th Mar every year till 20 years after passing out after which the get-togethers caught momentum.
SS-49 is a small, warm, affectionate and a professional course. All the course-mates are doing well and even the lady wives and wards are also well connected. It has now become an extended family for all.
Capain Ravee passed out with flying colors and was a recipient of Sri Nagesh Kumaon Regiment Medal for Best Drill & Turn Out, Gold Medal in Equestrian championship, Silver Medal in Rifle Shooting and came Excellent in Cross Country Run.
He had a parental claim on 8 Guards but he chose 61 Cavalry due to his riding abilities but that year there was no vacancy for 61st Cavalry and thus he lost his parental claim and got his third choice 11 Gorkha Rifles. He was proud to get 11 GR as his choice of Arm and enjoyed joining the Battalion in field area in North East Sikkim.
